| VIP is Helping California Vote
SACRAMENTO, CA – May 2, 2006 - Visionary Integration Professionals (VIP), a Folsom, California information technology and management consulting firm announces that it is helping California vote.
The federally mandated Help America Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002 is requiring jurisdictions across the country to modernize their voting programs. One of the components of HAVA requires that all jurisdictions replace punchcard and lever voting systems and “adopt voting systems that are fully accessible to disabled voters and that are capable of generating a permanent paper record that can be manually audited.” Optical scan and touch screen are among the technologies being implemented across the Country.
VIP has been working closely with California counties to help them successfully meet the time sensitive requirements for compliance. Presently, VIP has provided support to 11 California counties, managing a wide range of activities from the procurement of electronic voting systems, to the overall program management and implementation of the selected systems.
VIP is helping clients succeed by leveraging VIP's proprietary and proven procurement and implementation support methodology, which is based upon industry standards and best practices. Because it is critical to deliver on schedule, VIP's program management expertise supports the coordination of multiple activities in a compressed timeframe.
The wide range of HAVA compliance services offered by VIP includes developing business requirements; drafting voting system Request for Proposals (RFPs); facilitating voting system vendor product demonstrations and decision meetings; conducting vendor contract negotiations with voting system vendors; managing the selected vendor; developing quality assurance testing plans; conducting voting machine testing; evaluating polling place accessibility; developing compliance strategies; developing process improvements to align with the new system; developing warehouse requirements; and offering subject matter expertise related to California Election Code, Proposition 41, and HAVA regulations.
VIP's HAVA client list includes the Counties of Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, El Dorado, San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz, and others. VIP has received a number of letters of recommendation acknowledging VIP's expertise, quality of work, and successful project delivery.
“VIP is currently engaged in negotiations with a number of additional counties to discuss how we can best help them reach their goals for compliance. Ultimately, we help Counties bring all of the parts together in a timely manner while achieving a level of success throughout the process,” said Brian Fitzgerald, Director of VIP responsible for the management and oversight of all of VIP's HAVA engagements.
