LOWELL FRYMAN TO RELEASE METADATA BOOK THIS FALL

Denver, CO – August 2, 2007 – Lowell Fryman, Director of Service Delivery in the Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing practice for Visionary Integration Professionals (VIP), announced today that his new book on business metadata will be published on September 28 of this year.  Titled “Business Metadata: Capturing Enterprise Knowledge,” the book was co-authored by Bill Inmon, Inmon Data Systems, Bonnie O’Neil, Project Performance Corporation, along with Mr. Fryman.  It is the first book that helps businesses capture corporate human knowledge and unstructured data, and offer solutions for codifying it for use in IT and management.

“This book was written to address the poor business metadata management we have today in organizations,” said Fryman. ”Knowledge management is at a very primitive stage, but hopefully the steps we outline in our book will help companies take the necessary measures to deliver a more robust knowledge infrastructure to support the business properly.”

Written in a very “how to” style, the book is filled with war stories, examples and cases from current projects.  It includes a complete metadata acquisition methodology and a project plan to guide readers every step of the way.  It also contains sample unstructured metadata for use in self-testing and developing skills.

“IT professionals will find the book to have many practical approaches”, adds Fryman.  “Among other things, we provide guidance for creating and justifying projects, how to create a strategic roadmap, as well as best practices and techniques for metadata governance.”
