VIP was engaged by a transportation and logistics division of a large manufacturing company to design and develop a new business intelligence solution. As the business grew, the existing reporting environment had become a “bottleneck.” All data were obtained and analyzed manually, which was time consuming and only produced a two-dimensional solution. The growing business required a reporting and analysis environment that would allow individuals from different business units to conveniently access and analyze logistical, shipment and payment data.
VIP designed an end-to-end solution that created faster and more efficient reporting capability, and reduced costs for system support. Data is extracted nightly from the source system using Informatica mappings. VIP developed Informatica mappings, which transformed the source data based on defined business rules to update the new Invoicing, and Logistics Data Mart. Technologies utilized for this engagement include Crystal Reporting, Business Objects XI R2, Informatica and Oracle.
