Large Government Agency
A large California government organization set out to modernize its technical infrastructure, which services multiple critical business processes. The goal of this multimillion dollar Project is to implement four initiatives in support of the agency’s core business programs. The proposed solution aims to address the need to replace aging and obsolete systems while minimizing risk of failure and interruption to the agency’s business processes. The multi-year project is being incrementally deployed over the next many years. The business objectives of the Project include:
- Eliminate reliance on outdated technology and provide a more modern IT platform.
- Provide a technology solution that can be more easily and effectively enhanced.
- Eliminate embedded business logic in core system-level code.
- Provide greater extensibility of the agency’s processes to Internet users.
- Eliminate risk of systems failure by modernizing the agency’s core systems.
Recognizing that project management and planning, execution, and control would be the key to the success of the Project, the agency contracted with VIP to provide project management expertise to successfully meet the business requirements and complete project milestones, including activities required to plan and control the scope, schedule, staffing, and budget. VIP provides consultative services to project leadership to ensure the project approach makes use of established industry best practices and mitigates project risks.
