Project: Report Conversion, Testing, & QA
The Client was in the planning process of converting 1000-1600 Cognos Impromptu and Web Focus Reports into the Cognos ReportNet version 8. The ultimate goal of this project was to become more current with the available Cognos reporting technology capabilities. The Client's IT staff had good knowledge of report conversion techniques and processes; however, due to the time constraints of this effort they did not have the resources internally to get this project completed in the allowable timeframe. It was important the reports got converted quickly to ReportNet 8.0 with minimal disruption to the business. It was equally important that the project was a straight conversion effort and that scope not include any consolidation or enhancements of the 1000-1600 reports. VIP provided services that addressed short-term immediate needs and enabled the Client to meet its expanding data and reporting needs for the future.
Providing QA and Testing of the reports and with assistance from the Client's super users, VIP worked with the Client's IT staff to meet their desired end of year completion date. We analyzed the original reports, designed and developed the cataloging layer using Framework Manager, designed and developed the converted report using ReportNet, and conducted user testing for the Client's business users.
