Solution Manager, when properly configured and utilized, serves as a central point from which to administer the SAP Ecosystem using integrated tools, content, and SAP best-practice methodologies to support your organization’s SAP Enterprise applications.

SAP has published that SAP Solution Manager will be the only source from which customers receive maintenance updates for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and subsequent versions, as well as applications based on it (including SAP™ Business Suite 7). SAP’s OSS support also requires Solution Manager Diagnostics to be configured to provide troubleshooting and support for the Java Web Application Server and the applications residing there.
